When I first tried this product I sprayed it all over my kitchen as a preventative measure against roaches. I found the odor really strong for my size house and did not feel it did a very effective job of deterring/killing roaches.
However, when I have see bugs and sprayed them with direct contact it has always killed them almost instantly. Thus, I would recommend this mainly as a direct-contact spray, and at this frequency of use the smell was tolerable.
For prevention I've found food-grade diatomaceous earth much more effective in deterring/killing roaches that I do not personally see. In combination with diatomaceous earth I've found this to be a very useful product.
