I had limited experience with inflatable life vests in my time boating so I bought one to try out.The ComfortMax model was a bit more expensive than other life vests, yet fair when compared to other types like it out there, but came with amenities most commercial life vests don't have, such as the attached whistle or reflective tape. When not inflated it can be stowed away from the elements in it's own carry bag which is nice and space saving compared to Type II vests. And when not inflated it is rather comfortable and non-intruding in your movement.I manually inflated the vest with the oral tube to see how it worked and to my surprise it took no more than maybe a minute to orally inflate, which is good if you can stay calm enough to inflate it that way and bypass the pull string system in case of going overboard. After one straight hour of wear or so while inflated I had minimal neck discomfort, mostly feeling scratchy abrasion from the Velcro. And I went manual due to decreased chance of accidental inflation, but if the cost of 20 dollars or so a "pop" for re-arm kits scares you, you can find vests that do the same job at the sacrifice of maneuverability.As far as a life vest it does it's job fine and has more features than your standard type II vest, but this is mostly designed for ease of mind and motion. For it's abilities (and limitations) this was worth my money.
