I just use this as a pool toy. It would be suitable for a calm lake but probably would not take the punishment that a river with currents, rocks and such would dish out. My rating is based on this boat being less expensive than an average pool toy and value plays the major role in giving it a full 5 stars. I expect it will last at least a season or maybe two. It's fun and can be paddled around the pool using a kayak paddle that we happen to have lying around. There is a version of this boat that comes with oars. The oars are pretty useless though that version also came with a mini pump that was kind of nice.
