Braided cotton ropes attach seat to durable metal eyelets on a 39.5-inch hardwood spreader bar that ensures the seat remains open. Weight limit is 250 pounds. I put this swing on my childrens swingset, so I'd have a comfortable place to sit and read while still being nearby. It looks nice and is comfortable. Does absorb some water after it rains, but is never dripping wet. Birds seem attracted to the wooden bar, which causes us to have alot of bird droppings to clean off. But I have learned to flip the seat over when I'm done so the droppings and wetness are on the bottom, and I can flip it over and sit down without worry. Might have even more trouble with the birds if attaching to a tree as intructions indicate. Hardware is included.
