The safe is good for storage and keeping prying eyes out, but any semi-professional burglar with an uninterrupted 15 minutes alone in your home could get in this unit by either disabling the simple lock or by cutting through the thin door face. Consider this safe akin to a lock box that you bolt to a wall stud to keep a thief from easily hauling it off.
That said, it's fine for what I purchased it for, which was to keep my firearms out of the reach of kids. My biggest complaint is how Homak packages it. The most vulnerable parts of the safe are the edges of the front of the safe that are seated over the drywall. These are also the visible parts of the safe. Homak packs the unit in styrofoam, but is stingy around the edges, putting only about a quarter-inch of styrofoam on these edge pieces. As UPS is notorious for doing, mine arrived with two of the corners of the box having been broken open from rough handling, with some of the styrofoam exposed. The result was two bent corners that had to get knocked back into place with some pliers and a mallet. As the thing went into the back of my closet anyway, and weighs a good 50 pounds, I wasn't going to pay to have the thing shipped back to the seller over a cosmetic issue I could jury-rig. Buyers who want their safe to look good in the wall, however, may be in for a surprise when it arrives.
Homak needs to put some actual packing around the most vulnerable part of this safe or pick a shipper with a better reputation than UPS if it wants to skimp on the styrofoam.
