Until further notice, this thing is going to get very high reviews from me. The sound quality is good and it is very loud. At the highest volume level, it can easily be heard from over 200-300 yds away or more. The receiver/trasmitter has a range of well over 50 yds( have not tested further). Just keep in mind that you need a pretty clear line of sight for optimal performance. For the price, it's a great product. I've used it once and it drug out a huge aggressive sow well over 200+ pounds charging from some thick stuff. Dropped her in her tracks on the run with my .300 Weatherby with a shot to the head at about 10 yards away. Word of caution...avoid doing what I did (calling with call on body very close to thick cover) because it can turn quickly into a bad situation. Btw, the call that brought her in was the feeding frenzy. My recommendation is keep it about 20-30 yds away when calling. If you're going to keep it on your body, make sure you've given yourself plenty of distance so you'll have time to see the animal, acquire it, and make a shot without putting yourself in danger. The only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is that there's no way to turn off/stop the sound with the remote. I can see many scenarios where having that ability would be nice. As is, the sound must finish off its 15 sec or so play time before it'll silence. Of course, you can switch sounds at any time, but the last sound will always have to complete its run-time before silencing. All in all, a compact and economical hog call that works! Thanks Cass Creek...now if you'll just add a sound off button for the next model.
