Mueller HG80 Tennis/Golf Elbow Support. Support strap provides comfortable compression to relieve elbow pain, commonly called tennis elbow (epicondilitis). Excellent for gardening, golf, bowling and all activities involving strain on forearm muscles.
Owner Reviews, Ratings, Comments and Criticism For tennis elbow - a strain of the tendon on the top "bump" of the elbow, this therapeutic aid jelps to assist healing of a very difficult injury. The support is simply a strap with a pressure pad stiched into it. It has a clip for tightening and velcro securement. The purpose is to put pressure on the tendon/muscle just in front of the tennis elbow pain area. Center the pad over the tendon/muscle involved and secure with the velcro strap. The pressure pad will take some pressure off the tendon insertion area on the bone allowing less stress for healing. Tendonitis heals very slowly, so plan on wearing this strap for several weeks or even months (for my latest tendontitis bout it was 4 months). The key is to not do anything that aggravates the tendonitis pain, as this reinjures the tendon and delays healing. I have found that warm packs twice a day (20-30 minutes per session) speeds healing by increasing circulation to the injured tendon. To apply the heat, take a cloth/towel and place over the elbow folded so that there is about an inch or so of fabric above the injured area. Now position the elbow under a water faucet and allow warm to hot water slowly dribble into the cloth fabric and onto the elbow area. The cloth tempers the water and holds the warmed water over the tendonitis area. The water must be warm to increast circulation. The skin should be red after 20-30 minutes of treatment time. Do this routine twice a day and wear the elbow brace between sessions and the tendonitis will resolve much faster.
The tennis elbow strap is mostly comfortable to wear, even cinched up tight, stays in place without slipping, contains no latex, and is washable. My only complaint is that the plastic clip is a bit uncomfortable on the underside of the forearm. I have found another tendonitis brace, specifically, Futuro, to be superior to this brace. I give this one only three stars, mainly because the plastic clip pinches the skin. Here is the Futuro brace: Futuro Tennis Elbow Support (w / tension pad), One Size/ADJ, Black, 1 Support (Pack of 2)
