Owner Reviews, Ratings, Comments and Criticism This product gets 2 stars only because of good customer service. I have owned 4 different brands of electronic hearing protection over the last couple of years and these are clearly on the bottom of the list. The components (Speaker, Circuit Board, Battery Holder)are stuffed LOOSE into each earpiece and held in place by the foam pad that separates the components from the users ear. The switches stand out and are unprotected. Any slight bump as being in a range bag will turn the unit on and run the battery down. This is the only unit that still uses "N" batteries. Even the GameEar Quads have switched from the "N" to "AAA". Sound amplification is good but sound attenuation is poor. After using the Peltor 6S, the ProEars sound as if you had no protection at all. One of the earpieces on ProEars failed after one month. I Emailed the company and received a return phone call the next day with an address to send the unit for free repairs. They do have good customer service.
For the same sound quality, the Howard Leigh are half the price and offer a protected on-off switch and an auto (3-hour) shutoff. The Peltor 6S appears to have the best sound attenuation for about the same price as the proEars. The GameEar Quads seem to offer the best all-around performance but are slightly more expensive. If you are considering the ProEars 200, I would recommend considering one of the other brands on the market.
