These are CAST IRON weights much better then the other dumbbell set that use a plastic shell with concrete fill for the weights. I picked up this set because of price and it being cast iron weights. The cast iron does not crack or turn into dust like the concrete will over time with normal wear and tear. This set is 40lb unlike the other review that has never use free weights or forgot to do the math and add that in.
