Deer communicate by sounds much like that of a sheep - with a distictive bleating sound. This product seeks to replicate that unique sound in order to draw in the deer for an easier shot. It includes three slightly different "cans" that make slightly different calls.
The sound produced by the deer calls is louder in the larger two versions than the smallest. All three generally get the attention of the deer being called. I have found a more favorable (drawing nearer) response from does than I have bucks. In fact, bucks tend to ignore the bleat for the most part. In contrast, I have had does absolutely run to the area of my hunting stand. Despite claiming that bucks are lured to the estrous bleat, I have not found it to be true in the field. Perhaps others have.
To operate, the can is turned upside down and then uprighted again. The sound is produced with an internal bellows and gravity. All three cans produce a slightly different sound. The larger the can, the louder the sound - so it carries further. I carry two sizes with me. A larger size to call deer futher away, and then switch to the smaller can as they draw nearer out of curiosity.
This is a handy product to have while deer hunting. I think it piques the deer's curiosity and they come closer to investigate. It is a great addition to my hunting gear. For bucks, I prefer a grunt call.
