With modest care, this is a hatchet that you will be able to pass on for at least two more generations. It arrives sharp. Being full tang, it's heavy, but incredibly solid. I like the weight. My girlfriend prefers a lighter hatchet, which would be the only possible reason I can imagine to choose another hatchet over this one (Timberline makes a shorter version called the Bush Pilot that is also full tang). I think it's a superlative value for the cost.
