I bought this table thinking that it would be acceptable, given that I have used a non-slate table in the past, and was looking for a reasonably priced table with elegant styling. But there are several issues with this table that are giving me cause to regret the purchase.
The good is that the table is attractive, and very easy to assemble. It also seemed relatively flat and true upon first setting it up and leveling it (but this changed quickly). It's lighter than a slate table, and less expensive.
The bad is that my table came with legs which had major cosmetic defects due to extremely poor packaging. Escalade Sports customer service very quickly sent off new legs, but they were not for the correct model, so I am awaiting another shipment. The "felt" is not even close to the same color shown in the photos. The photos show a tan cloth, but I received a table that was covered with a mostly medium brown color material. I say "mostly" because it is not even uniform in color. It varies from a medium brown, to a greenish brown, to reddish brown. It looks like it was left in the sun and was randomly bleached out by the light. I have not contacted Escalade Sports customer service about the material color, as I don't expect there to be much to be had in the way of resolution to the issue aside from returning the entire table, which I would not be happy doing, given the task of re-packing it. Also, the material is already wearing after about 25 games.
And now about the play surface...it's not flat, and there is no way to make it flat. Some tables I have seen in the past have adjustment screws to tweak the table, but not this one. After shimming the legs to provide a level table, there is still one section where the balls don't roll straight at lower speeds. The table is "Slatron", which looks like melamine coated particle board. There is a framework screwed to the bottom to add stability, but there appears to be no way to resolve the uneven surface.
It looks nice, or at least it would have if the felt was the correct color and the legs were packed better so as to avoid damage. It also plays half-decently if you don't play enough to know the difference. But if you have any skill at all, and aren't just a "poke and hope" player, this table will likely cause aggravation. Add to this the spotty quality control on the felt color, and I have difficulty recommending it.
