Few tools are as versatile and functional as a good machete. Whether you are hunting, camping, working in your backyard, or surviving in the deepest jungle, nothing is handier or more useful. Staring with durable, spring-tempered blades of corrosion-resistant 420 stainless steel, they add an injection-molded textured rubber handle with a unique D-guard. This guard not only protects your hand during demanding chopping chores, it also ensures a positive grip and unparalleled control of the blade. A unique relief cut in the guard design also provides a thumb rest for more comfortable horizontal cutting strokes. Comes complete with a durable nylon sheath and a wrist lanyard for additional safety.

Heavy, tough, and cheap. It sure as hell doesn't replace a ax, but no knife does in my opinion, despite numerous internet claims. I'm falling in love with stainless, especially for hard working tools, as the "carbon just needs a little extra care" doesn't always hold true. The D-guard protects against over swings, and it dispatches spruce and birch up to 4" handily. I cleared about a half acre this year using this tool and a ax. I think guys running around clearing brush with knives costing hundreds of dollars are just silly. Modern steel is almost universally more than adequate, as a million $6 machetes have been proving for generations. The blade length helps in really thick brush, hinders where you have light brush and a longer blade would let you bend down less.
While I wouldn't want to build a cabin or cut a winters wood with it, its awesome to have in the truck or riverboat. Next Bush job I take, this will likely go with me. And for $26 dollars, order two.
