Coghlans Camp Axe is a great item for your must have camping list. The axe head is a forged steel and the shaft connecting the nonslip handle is made of steel. Its only 13" long and weighs 1.7 lb. Easy to handle and does the job.

This axe is not high quality. But it is very sturdy and heavy and won't break over anything. I found it difficult to sharpen and keep the edge sharp which is a sign of poor quality. However, sharpness is not all that important if your only going to be splitting fire wood. If you want a affordable axe that will last a long time under lots of use and abuse , go for it. Coleman makes one just like it and both are sold at places like Wal-Mart. I'll give it four stars.
