I got this for my 9 year old son. He is a bit big for his age, so I thought this one would work for him. The bow came set at the max draw weight and we had to turn it down just a bit for him to be able to draw. The whisker biscuit is an awesome included feature, but a simple little feature that would make this bow really great is a peep sight. They only cost a few bucks and installing one yourself is no big deal, but I would have given this bow 5 stars instead of 4 if it had included a peep sight.
The bow does have enough power to put arrows into a regular adult archery target, which is nice. The kiddie compound bows we've tried in the past weren't powerful enough and the arrows just bounced off the target. We ended up using a big cardboard box instead of the archer target. One thing to realize is that the arrows that come with this bow are terrible, and would not puncture a real archery target. As long as you use some higher quality practice arrows though, this bow works fine. It looks just like a real adult bow, but smaller.
I don't think this bow would be suitable for deer hunting, but it is definitely not just a toy either. It would definitely be fine for small game hunting, but for deer you are going to want something with at least 40lbs draw weight. Overall this is an excellent bow and I would recommend it for kids 10-12 years.
