The Harvard 5-in-1 sports trainer lets kids practice five of their favorite sports without leaving the home. The trainer starts with a dual-shot basketball game, with two mini basketballs and two hoops for on-the-spot showdowns. Players can then turn to America's pastime by grabbing the three baseballs and aiming them at the pitching target. Other games include soccer, hockey, and even lacrosse (the trainer comes with one soccer ball, a hockey stick, a puck, a lacrosse stick, and a lacrosse ball, plus an air pump for inflation). The 5-in-1 sports trainer is built sturdy, with 3/4-inch steel tubing and an MDF backboard. Other features include red powder-coated steel rims, an electronic scoring system, and an attached soccer goal. The trainer measures 35 by 66 by 66 inches (W x H x D) when set up.
Owner Reviews, Ratings, Comments and Criticism I'm tired. Just spent the better part of 2 hours putting this thing together.
This products comes in a remarkably small box(aka lots of parts). 48 Bolts, 66 Flat Washers, 48 Locking Nuts, 22 Tubes, 18 other parts and 14 "Elastic Bands" from hell.
I'm pretty handy. There is really nothing around the house I am afraid to tackle. Build furniture, cabinets and have restored a truck or two.
If my daughter didn't really love this I would be very disappointed.
Here's the killer. Feeding the 14 elastic bands through 14 elastic loops in the "rebounder" is hard enough. Then you have to stretch the elastic band over the plastic ball that is on one end. There are about 6 of these that are pretty darn difficult. I ended up using a "spring hook" and some needle nose pliers to feed the elastic bands through the loops and brute force to stretch them over the plastic balls. I almost ripped a finger nail off. I tried to work it in a way that I wouldn't end up with a ton of difficult ones at the end. I basically did all four corners then worked between. Seemed to be less difficult that way.
The MDF backboard for the basketball hoops had cut outs in it for the scoreboard that looked like they were cut freehand by some guy with a router. Not exactly square, and the holes to mount the electronic scoring didn't line up perfectly.
Is it worth the $190 I paid? I really don't see how it should cost so much. But, my daughter loves it. Maybe I'll come back and update my review when I have to move the giant thing from her room. I didn't want this thing eating space in our playroom.
If you buy it, bring strong hands and patience. I wish I had taken the time to go dig out a ratchet and socket that fit instead of using the crappy wrench they provide.
