It's a pretty cool little device. Good for emergency situations, given you have a flashlight and radio that can be powered from the crank, but the clock/display requires two batteries (watch-type, but bigger... not easy or cheap to replace) and it burns through those in a couple of months. I've had many LCD watches in my time with significantly smaller/fewer batteries that've gone years without needing replacement. I can live without the clock function, but without the display, you can't see what frequency the radio is tuned to either, which annoys me. My son-in-law has one as well and his does the same thing, so it's not just mine.
